A heartbreaking incident has been reported from Colonel Sher Kallay in Swabi, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where a young man who had returned from Europe to attend his father’s funeral was allegedly killed just hours before his scheduled return flight.
According to local sources, Waqar Ali (also reported as Waqif Ali in some accounts) had recently arrived in his native village after the death of his father. His return flight to Europe was scheduled for 8:00 PM on the day of the incident.
On the morning of his departure, he reportedly left home for shopping in the Shewa Adda area. During the journey, a minor argument allegedly broke out over a motorcycle passing dispute. The disagreement reportedly escalated, and the young man was fatally stabbed.
Instead of boarding his evening flight, his funeral was held at the same time, leaving the family and local community in deep shock.
The tragedy has devastated the household, which had already been mourning the loss of the family’s elderly father just days earlier. Waqar Ali is survived by his elderly mother, his widow, and two young daughters.
According to sources, police arrested the suspect within 24 hours following intensive efforts. The victim’s family and local residents have called on the courts to ensure justice is served.
The incident has been widely described by residents as one of the most tragic events to affect the area in recent memory.
