A tragic boat accident at Saifullah Lake in Kalam, Upper Swat, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, has claimed the lives of six members of the same family, while a 17-year-old girl remains missing as rescue efforts continue.
According to rescue officials, the family, who were tourists from Punjab, were on a boat when it capsized in the lake. Rescue teams recovered the bodies of six victims and shifted them to THQ Hospital Kalam. The deceased include two men, two women, and two children.
Search operations are still underway to locate the missing teenage girl. Rescue 1122, district administration, Swat Police, Tourism Police, and the Upper Swat Development Authority (USDA), along with members of the local Jeep Association, are jointly participating in the operation despite the area’s difficult mountainous terrain.
Emergency teams, ambulances, and tourism police reached the site immediately after the incident was reported, helping launch a swift rescue response.
Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah expressed deep sorrow over the tragedy, offering condolences to the bereaved family. He prayed for the departed souls and described the loss of multiple members of a single family as heartbreaking and deeply painful.
