According to West Midlands Police, officers were called to Walford Road at around 6:20 pm on Wednesday following reports of a stabbing.
Emergency services rushed to the scene, but despite efforts to save him, the victim — believed to be in his 40s — was pronounced dead at approximately 7 pm.
Police said four people were arrested overnight in connection with the incident, including a 29-year-old man detained in Bristol on suspicion of murder.
In a statement, West Midlands Police said early investigations suggest the attack was pre-planned and involved individuals known to each other.
Three additional suspects from the Bristol area were arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender. All four suspects are being transferred to the West Midlands for questioning.
“Our thoughts remain with the victim’s family during this extremely difficult time,” a police spokesperson said, adding that specialist officers are supporting the bereaved family.
The killing has sent shockwaves through the local Pakistani community, with reports that the victim’s parents suffered emotional trauma after receiving news of their son’s death.
Police have appealed to the public for information, CCTV footage, mobile phone videos, or dashcam recordings linked to the attack.
Anyone with information has been asked to contact West Midlands Police via 101 and quote log number 4881 dated June 4.
