Chery is shifting gears in Pakistan’s auto industry with a big announcement. The company has revealed plans to begin local assembly of hybrid vehicles starting January 2026, setting up operations at a brand-new manufacturing facility in National Industrial Park, Port Qasim, Karachi.
The new plant is no small venture — it spans over 60 acres and comes with a $150 million investment. During the launch ceremony, officials highlighted that this state-of-the-art facility will not only assemble vehicles but also strengthen the local auto ecosystem.
To support this move, Chery Master Pakistan is also building a nationwide dealership network, with 10 outlets set to open in seven major cities across the country next year.
Chery, known as China’s top automobile export brand, already has a strong presence in over 120 countries including Europe, South America, Africa, and Asia. Now, Pakistan is the next big stop.
The company plans to roll out four models from its popular Tiggo lineup — Tiggo Cross, Tiggo 7, Tiggo 8, and Tiggo 9 — all equipped with advanced plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) technology.
Samir Malik, CEO of Master Auto Engineering, called this partnership with Chery Automobile Ltd. a “major milestone” for Pakistan’s auto sector. He emphasized that the initiative will not only bring cutting-edge hybrid technology but also create more than 2,000 jobs and boost local expertise in New Energy Vehicle (NEV) technologies.
This development marks a strong push toward a greener and more advanced automotive future in Pakistan.
