Mercedes-Benz is betting big on the future of ultra-luxury electric mobility with the reveal of its all-new VLE, a futuristic “Grand Limousine” designed to transform long-distance travel into a rolling luxury lounge.
Set to arrive in the US market by late 2027, the fully electric VLE combines limousine comfort with minivan practicality, offering features rarely seen in family-focused vehicles — including a 31.3-inch ultrawide 8K display, reclining massage seats, Dolby Atmos surround sound and a panoramic glass roof.
Mercedes says the VLE is not a traditional minivan, instead branding it as a “Grand Limousine” aimed at premium buyers seeking high-end travel experiences.
A luxury lounge on wheels

Inside the VLE, passengers are treated to a business-class-style cabin experience. The second-row captain seats are heated, ventilated and reclining, while ambient RGB lighting and an integrated scent nebulizer add to the upscale atmosphere.
The vehicle’s centerpiece is a giant 31.3-inch 8K entertainment screen capable of splitting into dual 15-inch 4K displays for separate viewing experiences. Passengers can stream YouTube and Disney+ directly from the system, while Bluetooth headsets allow individualized audio playback.
Mercedes has also equipped the VLE with a 22-speaker Burmester 3D sound system supporting Dolby Atmos audio. The system intelligently adjusts sound distribution depending on the number and position of passengers inside the cabin.
USB-C charging ports are available across all three rows, alongside fold-out laptop trays and temperature-controlled storage compartments for beverages.
Massive size, powerful electric performance

The VLE stretches 216 inches long, making it around 10 inches longer than the Mercedes GLS SUV. It also offers a spacious interior with nearly 49 inches of ceiling height.
Two electric variants will be offered. The VLE 300 produces 272 horsepower with front-wheel drive, while the VLE 400 4MATIC delivers 416 horsepower through a dual-motor all-wheel-drive setup.
Both models use a large 115-kWh battery pack with Mercedes claiming up to 435 miles of range under Europe’s WLTP testing standards. EPA estimates are expected to be closer to 350 miles.
The vehicle supports ultra-fast 300-kW charging through its 800-volt architecture, allowing drivers to add nearly 200 miles of range in around 15 minutes.
Comfort-focused driving experience

Despite its size, the VLE features adaptive air suspension and rear-wheel steering technology that helps improve maneuverability in tight spaces.
Mercedes has also included a suite of advanced driver assistance features, including active lane-keeping assistance and an automated parking system capable of steering the large vehicle into compact parking spots.
Reviewers who experienced the VLE said the electric limousine performs best when driven smoothly in Comfort mode, prioritizing passenger relaxation over sporty handling.
Price still under wraps
Mercedes-Benz has not officially announced pricing for the VLE, but company executives hinted the luxury EV will carry a premium price tag.
“It will not be a cheap one, for sure,” Andreas Zygan, Head of Development at Mercedes-Benz Vans, said during the vehicle preview.
With its blend of luxury, entertainment technology and electric performance, the VLE could redefine how wealthy families, executives and airport shuttle services travel in the future.
