The wife of Arshad Sharif, Javeria Siddique, has filed a murder case against Kenya’s elite police unit. She alleges that her husband, Arshid Sharif, was fatally shot by officers from the Kenyan General Service Unit on October 23, 2022. The officers initially claimed that it was a case of mistaken identity.
She has requested that the officers involved in Arshid Sharif’s killing face trial and be subjected to appropriate punishment. In her legal action, Javeria Siddique named the Attorney General of Kenya and the Director of Public Prosecution as respondents.

Furthermore, she has asked the court to instruct the Attorney General to issue a public apology to Arshid Sharif’s family within seven days of the court’s order. This apology should acknowledge the facts, accept responsibility, and be made at a public level.
Javeria Siddique, speaking about the matter, said, “I have filed a case in Nairobi to seek justice for my husband’s murder. We have filed a case against the General Service Unit of Kenya because they committed a crime in public and later admitted it was a case of mistaken identity.
However, I believe it was a targeted murder. But the Kenyan government has never issued an apology or contacted us.”
