NEW DELHI: Bollywood actor Ajay Devgn is returning as Vijay Salgaonkar in Drishyam: The Conclusion, the third and final instalment of the Hindi crime-thriller franchise, which releases in Indian cinemas on October 2, 2026.
The film continues the story from Drishyam 2, with Vijay once again facing questions surrounding the events that forced him to create an elaborate plan to protect his family. This time, however, he faces a new challenge as investigators attempt to uncover the truth behind the case.
Actor Jaideep Ahlawat joins the franchise as Rajveer Singh Tomar, an SP and Crime Branch officer who is determined to reach Vijay’s secret. Tabu also returns as Meera Deshmukh, while Prakash Raj appears in an important role.
One of the biggest attractions surrounding the film is its ending. Director Abhishek Pathak has said the Hindi version has been developed with a new, original story rather than simply following the Malayalam storyline. This means audiences are not expected to know the conclusion in advance.
The filmmakers have taken extensive measures to protect the climax from being leaked. Pathak reportedly studied fan theories circulating online, including theories on Reddit, while developing the ending. Some members of the film’s team were also not given access to the complete script in an effort to maintain secrecy.
The release date itself carries significance for the franchise. The film arrives on October 2, the same date that became central to Vijay’s carefully constructed alibi in the earlier films. The third movie has been promoted as the final chapter of the Hindi series, with Pathak indicating that there will not be a fourth instalment in this version of the franchise.
The film has also generated strong interest before release. Reports cited by Urdu News said advance bookings had crossed 1.1 million tickets across different centres, while major national cinema chains had recorded substantial advance sales. Commercial estimates had projected a strong opening, although those figures remained predictions rather than confirmed earnings.
With Vijay Salgaonkar returning for one final confrontation, the central question for audiences is whether the secret that has remained protected throughout the franchise will finally be exposed — and how the story will bring his journey to an end.
