Bangladesh cricket team captain Shakib Al Hasan wins in landslide victory in the country’s parliamentary election, securing a seat in the western town of Magura.
Shakib Al Hasan was contesting as a candidate of the ruling Awami League party, and won by a margin of over 150,000 votes.
The election was boycotted by the main opposition Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP). Despite taking a temporary leave from cricket for his campaign, Shakib expressed confidence in balancing his roles as a lawmaker and cricket captain.
He is widely regarded as one of the best all-rounders, having simultaneously held the number-one ranking in all three formats by the International Cricket Council.

The incident’s timing and location remain uncertain, with speculation that it occurred a week before the election results. Shakib, known for his on-field temper, faced criticism previously for dismissing Sri Lankan captain Angelo Mathews for ‘timed out’ during the Asia Cup, leading to accusations of unsportsmanlike conduct.
The recent video adds fuel to the debate about Shakib’s behavior both on and off the field.
