A teacher at El Dorado High School in Placentia, USA, has been placed on administrative leave following an incident where she was caught on camera discussing sex toys and sexual pleasure with students. Judy Rehburg, a physiology and AP environmental science teacher, was sent on leave after parents raised concerns about the viral footage, as reported by the Orange County Register. Alyssa Griffiths, a spokesperson for the Placentia-Yorba Linda school district, stated that district employees are expected to exercise professional judgment when determining the suitability of topics for study or discussion.
Griffiths added that teachers represent the district in the classroom and are obligated to adhere to the approved curriculum without promoting personal opinions or perspectives.
The newspaper further disclosed that a secretly recorded video captured the teacher discussing the availability of sex toys in general retail stores and elaborating on the role of the male prostate in sexual pleasure.
According to the El Dorado High School website, Ms. Rehburg’s anatomy and physiology class syllabus includes a unit on pregnancy and the reproductive system.
In 2016, the state Board of Education approved comprehensive sex education laws that encompass inclusivity in health education, as reported by the New York Post. The district is currently investigating the teacher’s conduct. Ms. Griffiths assured that both the PYLUSD and EDHS are committed to ensuring a safe and respectful learning environment for all students.
