A small aircraft crashed near the coast of Ras Al Khaimah in the United Arab Emirates, resulting in the tragic deaths of a Pakistani female pilot and an Indian doctor. The incident has left the aviation community and their families in deep sorrow. Investigations are underway to determine the cause of the crash.
As per WAM, a small two-seater glider from Al Jazeera Sports Club crashed into the sea near the coast of Ras Al Khaimah, United Arab Emirates, resulting in the deaths of the pilot and a passenger.
The UAE’s news agency, WAM, confirmed on Sunday that the Civil Aviation Authority is investigating the cause of the crash. The Air Accident Investigation Sector reported the incident shortly after takeoff around 2 PM near Cove Rotana Hotel.
Dr. Suleiman Al Majid’s father, Majid Makram, stated that the victims included a 29-year-old Pakistani female pilot and his 26-year-old Indian son, Dr. Suleiman Al Majid. “My son had rented the glider, and our family, including his parents and younger brother, were at the Aviation Club to watch this experience,” he explained. He also mentioned, “Dr. Suleiman’s younger brother was supposed to take the next flight.”
The family mentioned that initially, they were informed that the glider’s radio contact was lost. Later, they were told it made an emergency landing. When they arrived at the hospital, they were informed that both individuals were critically injured and efforts were being made to save them.
“We eagerly looked forward to celebrating the New Year together as a family. It feels as if time has stopped for us. Suleiman was the light of our lives. We don’t know how we will move forward,” the family expressed.
The Authority has extended its condolences and sympathies to the families and friends of the deceased.
