Former Pakistani fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar has revealed the reason of mostly defeat of Indian team against Pakistan in the cricket match.
According to the Local English News website, the fast bowler has expressed his concerns regarding the Indian media’s approach to covering cricket, particularly in the lead-up to crucial matches against Pakistan. He cited a specific incident from the Asia Cup 2022, where he believed that the extensive media attention adversely affected the Indian team’s performance.
Shoaib Akhtar acknowledges India’s considerable cricketing talent but believes that on occasions, the team succumbs to the immense pressure created by the media. He calls upon the Indian media to exercise restraint and avoid burdening the national team with unrealistic expectations.
Reflecting on his own experience in Dubai, Shoaib Akhtar recounted witnessing the Indian media intensively building up pressure around their cricket team. He emphasized that such media scrutiny can have detrimental effects on the players’ mindset and performance.
Shoaib Akhtar also noted that when Pakistan is viewed as the underdog, it alleviates the pressure on them, enabling them to play more freely and confidently.
It is worth mentioning here that Pakistan emerged victorious against India in the Asia Cup 2022. Furthermore, in the current Asia Cup, Pakistan has commenced strongly, securing a commanding 238-run victory against Nepal in their opening match.
On the other hand, in a crucial encounter of the Asia Cup, the age-old rivals, India and Pakistan, are poised to meet in Sri Lanka, reigniting their enduring historic rivalry.
The upcoming India-Pakistan cricket match in the Asia Cup 2023 has generated significant excitement, as it marks the first ODI encounter between the arch-rivals since June 16, 2019.
Pakistan, the top-ranked ODI team, is in great form, winning 17 of their last 20 ODIs, including a dominant victory over Nepal in the Asia Cup. India, while dealing with injury concerns, is gradually regaining form and confidence.
Both teams acknowledge the significance of the Asia Cup, and India’s captain, Rohit Sharma, emphasized its importance rather than viewing it solely as a “final fitness test” before the World Cup. Pakistan’s captain, Babar Azam, demonstrated his leadership with a remarkable century in the tournament.
