A heartbreaking story from India has captured many hearts. A 19-year-old student, Snehya, from Delhi University, ended her life by jumping into the Yamuna River early one morning. Before doing so, she sent goodbye messages to her friends and family, left a note in her room, and quietly took a taxi to the river. She stood on the bridge, watching the sunrise, as if saying farewell to the world.
The taxi driver dropped her off, unaware of what was about to happen. Passersby noticed her standing alone but thought nothing of it. After some time, she jumped into the river. Seven days later, her body was found.
Friends shared that she had been feeling lonely and withdrawn for some time. She came to Delhi full of dreams to study math, far from her home and loved ones. But silently, she was struggling with deep pain—something that felt heavier than anything her loved ones could imagine.
Her father, 53 and very ill, travelled all the way to Delhi and stood on that same bridge for days, asking every person if they had seen his daughter. He searched for her until her body was recovered.
The writer reminds us: when someone is struggling mentally, a parent’s love, a small gesture, or kind words can mean the world. A simple “Don’t worry, I’m here for you” can give a person the strength to keep going. Sometimes, it is not just about saving a life—but saving someone’s will to live.
