Rome, Italy – In a groundbreaking cultural milestone, the Sharjah Archaeology Authority has partnered with Rome’s cultural institutions to stage the first-ever Arabic exhibition at the historic Colosseum Archaeological Park.
The exhibition is being organized under the patronage of His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah.
Sheikha Bodour Bint Sultan Al Qasimi, Ambassador of the Faya Palaeolandscape World Heritage Nomination File, and Chairperson of Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq), inaugurated the historic exhibition.
Held at the Curia Julia, this extraordinary showcase sheds light on the enduring commercial and cultural connections between Sharjah and ancient civilizations, reaffirming the emirate’s pivotal role in global trade routes.
Visitors to the exhibition are taken on a fascinating journey through Sharjah’s rich history as a thriving trade hub, where goods, knowledge, and craftsmanship were exchanged across the legendary Spice Route. Among the stunning artifacts on display are Roman glass, Greek coins, and even a bronze statue of Venus, all unearthed in Sharjah—each telling a remarkable story of intercontinental exchange.
This historic exhibition cements Sharjah’s status as a bridge between ancient and modern civilizations and highlights how trade was instrumental in shaping the world as we know it. A must-visit for history enthusiasts, the exhibition is a testament to the power of cultural diplomacy and the deep-rooted connections between the Middle East and Europe.
