Senate Committee Orders PTA to Block Rizwan Razi after a strong reaction to his recent controversial vlog. The decision was taken during a meeting of the Senate’s Standing Committee on Rules of Procedure and Privileges, chaired by Senator Syed Waqar Mehdi.
The committee’s agenda was focused on a vlog uploaded by Rizwan Razi, also known as Razi Dada. In his video, he made derogatory remarks against the Sindhi community, calling them the “offspring of monkeys.” The vlog was posted on his YouTube channel Razi Nama, which has over 289,000 subscribers. The content quickly spread on X (formerly Twitter) and triggered outrage nationwide.
The Senate Committee Orders PTA to Block Rizwan Razi because lawmakers viewed his remarks as hate speech. They said the comments hurt the emotions of parliamentarians, undermined federalism, and risked damaging national unity. Pakistan Television (PTV) had already dismissed him from service over the video. Although Razi later apologized, the committee stated his words were unacceptable.
The committee directed the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) to block his channel to prevent further spread of hate speech. Journalist Rizwan Ghilzai, reporting on the matter, confirmed that senators emphasized the responsibility of media and online platforms. They stressed that free expression must not cross into hate speech or create ethnic divides.
This move highlights the parliament’s firm stance against harmful digital content. The blocking of Razi’s YouTube channel is meant to stop the spread of offensive speech and protect the unity of the country.
