Riyadh (September 16, 2025): Saudi Arabia has officially launched the Google Pay service in the Kingdom, marking a significant step in advancing digital payments. The rollout was announced by the Saudi Central Bank (SAMA) through the country’s national payment system, Mada.
According to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), the launch took place during the prestigious Money 20/20 Middle East Conference and Exhibition held in Riyadh.
What Google Pay Offers in Saudi Arabia
With the arrival of Google Pay in Saudi Arabia, users can now make secure transactions using the ‘Tap to Pay’ feature for seamless in-store payments. The service will soon extend to apps and websites, further broadening its accessibility.
Consumers can easily add and manage their Mada debit cards, as well as Visa and Mastercard credit cards, through the Google Wallet app. This integration simplifies the process of digital payments and card management for millions of users in the Kingdom.
Enhanced Security Features
Google Pay ensures safer transactions through multiple layers of protection. Each payment uses industry-standard tokenization, where a virtual card number (token) replaces sensitive card details. This token is device-specific and secured with a dynamic security code that changes with every transaction, reducing the risk of fraud.
Part of Saudi Arabia’s Digital Transformation
SAMA highlighted that the introduction of Google Pay aligns with the Kingdom’s ongoing efforts to enhance financial technology and meet the evolving needs of its market. The move reflects Saudi Arabia’s commitment to providing modern, secure, and efficient digital payment solutions.
With this launch, Saudi Arabia joins a growing list of countries adopting Google Pay, further supporting the nation’s Vision 2030 goals to promote innovation and a cashless economy.
