A 68-year-old Russian woman in Sharjah passed away just six days after embracing Islam, prompting the local community to attend her funeral as family in the UAE.

A 68-year-old Russian national, Nadezhda Dostovulova, passed away in Sharjah just six days after embracing Islam, according to community sources.
Her funeral prayer is scheduled for Wednesday, January 28, 2026 (9 Sha’ban 1447 AH), to be held after the Asr prayer at Khadija Mosque, with burial to follow at Al Ruwaidat Cemetery.
Details of the funeral were shared by UAE Funerals on the social media platform X, where the organization appealed to residents to attend the prayer and burial. The message noted that Dostovulova had no immediate family in the country and urged the community to stand in as her family by participating in the rites and offering prayers for mercy and steadfastness.
The announcement prompted messages of condolence and solidarity from community members, many of whom expressed appreciation for the call to support an individual who spent her final days in the UAE after choosing Islam.
Authorities did not release further details regarding the cause of death.
