Rana Sanaullah Warns PTI Ahead of September 27 Islamabad Protest

Prime Minister’s Adviser on Political Affairs Rana Sanaullah has said the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leadership’s “misunderstanding” regarding its planned September 27 protest in Islamabad will be cleared on the day, warning that the government would take action if protesters arrive in the capital as armed groups.

Speaking about the planned demonstration, Rana Sanaullah alleged that PTI intended to bring armed groups to Islamabad for the protest.

He said that if such a situation emerged, the government would exercise its authority to protect citizens and maintain the security of the federal capital.

The adviser also claimed that PTI had not reached any agreement or administrative understanding with the Islamabad administration regarding the protest. According to him, no formal arrangement had so far been presented that would allow the planned gathering to be treated as an ordinary political demonstration.

Rana Sanaullah further alleged that Sohail Afridi had intended to create disorder in Lahore. He questioned whether the state would have the authority to respond if a political party arrived in the capital in the form of armed groups and attempted to disrupt the existing system.

He maintained that allowing such groups to enter Islamabad could put the city’s security at risk. Rana Sanaullah also alleged that PTI wanted to bring down the government and secure the release of PTI founder Imran Khan.

Referring to the September 27 protest, he said the situation would become clear on that date and claimed that PTI leaders would also have their “misunderstanding” removed.

Rana Sanaullah added that security arrangements would be made in view of the planned protest.

He said that if protest caravans travelled from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa towards the federal capital, routes leading from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa would be blocked rather than allowing the situation to develop inside Islamabad.

The statements come ahead of the PTI’s announced September 27 protest, with the government emphasizing security concerns surrounding the planned gathering.
