Punjab’s traffic police are set to undergo a major uniform change, with personnel to replace their grey uniforms with white shirts and navy-blue trousers.
Police sources said the new uniforms will be purchased during the current fiscal year. The Lahore Traffic Police had already shifted to a new uniform last year, with then-CTO Lahore Athar Waheed allocating Rs5,000 per officer for uniform procurement.
According to sources, approval for the province-wide uniform change was granted last year. The transition was planned in phases, beginning with Lahore and later extending across Punjab.
Punjab Inspector General Abdul Karim has reportedly approved the purchase of 12,000 new uniforms. The pre-qualification process for procurement for the traffic police and other Punjab Police units is expected to begin this week.
