PTI seems in hot waters after Khan’s statement regarding dissolving of assemblies

The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) appears to have taken a step back from Imran Khan’s recent statement claiming that he dissolved the Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa assemblies on the advice of former army chief General (retd) Qamar Javed Bajwa.

The party’s official Twitter account labeled the report “fake news,” stating that Khan was only referring to past statements made by the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) regarding the dissolution of assemblies. However, Geo News, the private news channel that conducted the interview with Khan, reported that he clearly stated that he dissolved the assemblies on the advice of the former army chief. Khan also made other claims in the interview, such as alleging that Bajwa lied to him and that Bajwa wanted to bring Shehbaz Sharif into power. Minister for Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb criticized Khan and the PTI for “playing with the public’s minds and not telling the truth,” adding that the upcoming elections would take place at a specified time and not on anyone’s advice.
