Prime Minister Shebhaz Sharif on Wednesday while acknowledging the challenges Pakistan faces, including inflation and high electricity bills, assured citizens that efforts are underway to reduce electricity prices, crucial for industrial growth.
Addressing an event on the occasion of Independence Day in Islamabad, he acknowledged the struggles of the past 77 years, but expressed hope for a brighter future.
The prime minister said that there are still positive aspects within the nation despite current issues like inflation and high electricity bills.
“We as a nation stand at a crossroads, faced with a crucial decision to continue down the path of dependence and begging, or to strive for the realisation of Pakistan’s founding dream of a life of dignity, self-sufficiency, and prosperity,” he said.
Mr Sharif also recognised the hardships faced by citizens, including inflation and high electricity bills. However, he emphasized that there are still reasons to be optimistic about Pakistan’s future.
He warned that enemies are using tactics to hinder Pakistan’s progress, including digital terrorism, but expressed confidence in the nation’s nuclear power and resilience.
The premier announced that a 5-year economic plan will be presented soon, aiming to address the country’s challenges and put Pakistan on a path to prosperity.
PM Sharif also praised individuals who have made significant contributions to the nation, including Arshad Nadeem, who won a gold medal. He also warned of external threats, including digital terrorism, but expressed confidence in Pakistan’s nuclear power and resilience.
