A petition has been filed in the Lahore High Court, demanding that information about the expenditures of the Pakistan Cricket Board along with the national cricket team, especially on their foreign tours, be made public.
The application was moved by Advocate Faisal Waheed, who argued for the disclosure of details of the ban imposed on taking family members on international tours and their expenditure.
The petition has made PCB, Chief Selector, Team Manager, Head Coach, and Captain Babar Azam respondents.
Advocate Waheed, representing the public interest, said that the recently witnessed T20 World Cup saw an uncalled-for performance by the Pakistan cricket team as it was defeated at the hands of newcomers-the cricket team of the United States.
The petition out rightly states that this PCB, with its poor performances, has become highly questionable as to the accountability for the active public funds and resources invested within it.
The petitioner has prayed to the court to issue orders against the PCB to provide a detailed record of all the expenditures, starting from the salaries and other privileges entitled to the officials and players.
Application also has prayed to the court for issuing directives to stop the cricketers and officials to take their families along during future international tours.
The Lahore High Court will review the petition and decide whether the requested information should be publicly disclosed or not, which can establish a precedent for more transparency within the PCB and the national team of cricket.
