The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) issues a statement to express its support for Captain Babar Azam and the team management, currently present in India for the CWC2023. They have faced harsh criticism from former cricketers following three consecutive losses at the World Cup.
While acknowledging the emotions and sentiments of the fans, the PCB hoped that the cricketing community and fans would continue to support the team as they face the challenging environment of playing in India.
The PCB emphasized that the national team still has four crucial matches left in the round-robin stage and expressed optimism that the team would regroup, overcome the setbacks, and perform positively in the upcoming fixtures.
Regarding the media scrutiny, the PCB stated that successes and defeats are a part of the game. Captain Babar Azam and Chief Selector Inzamam-ul-Haq were given freedom and support in forming the squad for the ICC World Cup 2023.
The board also mentioned that it would make decisions in the best interest of Pakistan cricket based on the team’s performances in the World Cup in the future.

Pakistan is in the fifth position on the points table after suffering defeats at the hands of Afghanistan, Australia, and India. They need to win all remaining matches to have a chance of qualifying for the semi-finals.
Next, Pakistan will face South Africa at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on October 27. The Proteas have been a strong side in the tournament, winning four out of the five matches they’ve played. After three consecutive defeats, the morale within the Pakistan camp is a cause for concern.
