Pakistan has set a target to create 2 million new jobs during the upcoming fiscal year 2026–27, according to official government documents.
The government claims that approximately 1.8 million employment opportunities were generated during the current fiscal year ending on June 30.
According to the documents, the services sector is expected to contribute the largest share with 1.1 million jobs, followed by the industrial sector with 500,000 jobs, and the agriculture sector with 400,000 jobs.
Officials say the rising trend in job creation will support broad-based, inclusive, and employment-driven economic growth. The documents also highlight that federal and provincial employment programs are helping strengthen labor market participation, entrepreneurship, technical skills development, and the selection of candidates suited to available jobs.
The government expects these initiatives to play a key role in expanding employment opportunities and boosting economic activity across the country.
