Pakistani actor Momina Iqbal has issued a legal notice to religious scholar Nasir Madni over alleged defamatory and false allegations circulating on social media.
The notice, sent through her lawyer Advocate Adnan Ahsan Khan, demands the immediate removal of all online content deemed derogatory and damaging to the actor’s reputation. It also claims that statements made in a viral video by Nasir Madni amount to character assassination and online harassment.
According to the legal notice, the allegations suggesting that Momina Iqbal received financial support, gifts, a mobile phone, or educational expenses from an individual are completely false, fabricated, and made with malicious intent. Her legal team has strongly rejected these claims, stating they have harmed her personal and professional reputation, as well as her emotional and mental well-being.
The notice further argues that such content violates Pakistan’s Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA) 2016, the Defamation Ordinance 2002, and relevant sections of the Pakistan Penal Code.
Nasir Madni has been asked to immediately delete the allegedly defamatory material, retract his statements, and issue a public apology. The notice warns that failure to comply within the given timeframe may result in criminal legal proceedings.
Momina Iqbal has recently also spoken out on social media regarding ongoing harassment and character assassination, after which this legal development has surfaced.
