Mehvish Waliany to join Alkaram Studio as Chief Operating Officer (COO)

Mehvish Waliany has accepted to become the chief operating officer of Alkaram Studio, starting in mid-July 2022. She is currently on notice at InfraZamin, where she is chief investment officer. The appointment was confirmed by the Alkaram Studio human resources team, who did not share any additional comments, but spoke with the reporter from Founder Pakistan.

Mehvish Waliany, who has over 20 years of experience in investment banking, is a strong advocate for project finance and the debt capital markets. As the EVP of Investment Banking Group at Bank Alfalah Limited, she managed a portfolio of $375 million in project finance, debt capital markets and syndication.

Bank Alfalah Limited’s direct income earned from the bank’s investment banking desk grew by more than 110% thanks to her expertise. This is a milestone in the industry.

Mehvish Waliany is driven to make a difference in the future development and impact on the finance sector in Pakistan. She was the CIO at InfraZamin and helped to fill the gaps in local credit markets in order to encourage more private sector participation in the long-term, local currency financing for infrastructure as well as the debt capital markets in Pakistan.

Mehvish Waliany, the new COO at Alkaram Studio will work to improve financial metrics such as profitability, capitalization and funding, liquidity and internal controls. Al-Karam Textile Mills Private Limited (AKTMPL), which is the parent company of Alkaram Studio uses a risk-based approach to audit with observations that are classified as ‘high’ or’medium’ risk.

According to the VIS Credit Rating Company Limited (AKTMPL), AKTMPL has established an internal audit standard operating procedure (SOP) that is applicable to every process. All employees must follow these SOPs. A fully integrated ERP system powered with Oracle has been deployed by the company. It includes modules that can be used to support various administrative departments, including production.

The production department has a customized solution. The company’s strengths are Research and Development (R&D), which is a strong area of the company. They continue to invest large amounts to ensure that they can innovate continuously.
