A British nurse, Lucy Letby, has been convicted of murdering seven babies and attempting to kill six others while working at a hospital.
She used various methods to harm the babies under her care, including injecting air into their blood and stomachs, overfeeding with milk, physical assault, and poisoning with insulin.
Letby targeted 13 babies on the neonatal ward at the Countess of Chester Hospital between 2015 and 2016. Doctors noticed an unusual increase in deaths and collapse among the babies, leading to a police investigation.

Three female jurors wiped away tears as trial judge Mr Justice Goss thanked them for their “obvious care, diligence and sense of responsibility” and told them they were excused from further jury service for the rest of their lives.
After the jury confirmed they were unable to reach verdicts in relation to four babies, the relatives of one of the infants stormed out of court.
The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) described Letby’s actions as a severe betrayal of trust, turning harmless substances into lethal tools and causing harm, grief, and death.
