JACOBABAD: A shocking act of violence erupted in Sindh’s Jacobabad district after a couple’s love marriage allegedly triggered a brutal retaliatory attack,
leaving dozens of families homeless and living under the open sky.
According to media reports, heavily armed men attacked Goth Muhammad Sadiq Arain on May 5, setting dozens of houses on fire and spreading panic through intense gunfire across the area.
The village was reduced to ashes as terrified residents fled to save their lives.
SSP Jacobabad Faizan Ali said initial investigations revealed that a couple belonging to Goth Sadiq Arain and Goth Ghazi Khan Channa had solemnized a love marriage in a Hyderabad court.
The marriage reportedly enraged certain individuals, who later launched the violent assault on the village.
Police have arrested five suspects during raids conducted at multiple locations. A case has been registered against 12 nominated and 20 unidentified suspects under anti-terrorism charges.
Authorities say a special investigation team has been formed to arrest the remaining attackers and continue the probe. Meanwhile, affected families say they are still waiting for justice as many accused remain at large.
Several families who lost their homes are now struggling to survive in extreme heat without shelter, food, or basic necessities.
