A shocking incident unfolded on a SereneAir flight from Quetta to Islamabad on March 18, 2025. Two passengers, former Commissioner Iftikhar Jogezai and his daughter Saima Jogezai, were traveling together when they allegedly assaulted the cabin crew. The incident raises serious concerns about the safety and dignity of airline staff.
The Incident Unfolds
During check-in Saima Jogezai reportedly misbehaved with the airline’s counter staff. After boarding the flight she verbally abused and insulted the cabin crew while being guided to her seat. As the aircraft prepared for takeoff Saima stood up and started shouting profanities and issuing threats to the cabin crew causing distress among other passengers.
Immediate Action Taken
The captain immediately decided to return the aircraft to the gate and instructed that both passengers be offloaded. Iftikhar Jogezai disembarked but Saima Jogezai refused to leave. When she finally exited the aircraft she attacked a female cabin crew member breaking her nose and teeth.
Consequences and Reactions
The Airport Security Force took both individuals into custody while the injured cabin crew member was rushed to the hospital. There is significant official pressure on the airline airport authorities and ASF to release them. However many are demanding strict legal action against such unethical and criminal behavior.
Safety and Dignity of Airline Staff
This incident highlights the need for stricter laws to protect airline staff from abuse and assault. The safety and dignity of cabin crew members must be ensured during air travel.
A Call to Action
The international community including organizations like ICAO must come together to condemn such behavior and ensure that perpetrators face consequences. The aviation industry must prioritize the safety and well-being of its staff to prevent such incidents in the future.
