Tech Entrepreneur Adam Robinson Dies Alongside Wife and Two Children in Devastating Florida Plane Crash
A successful technology entrepreneur, Adam Robinson, 44, was among nine people killed when a private Learjet crashed in a fireball near a mobile home park in Greenacres, Palm Beach County, Florida, on Sunday. His wife, Helen Sharp, 40, and their two young children, four-year-old Emma Robinson and two-year-old Charlie Robinson, also lost their lives in the tragic accident.
Just days before the crash, Adam Robinson had reportedly told his close friend Jesse Ouellette that life was going “too well” as his business ventures continued to flourish. What was meant as a light-hearted remark has now become a heartbreaking reflection of a life cut short unexpectedly.
Robinson was a well-known figure in the technology and software industry. He co-founded Robly, an email marketing platform, and later established Retention.com, a technology company that helps e-commerce businesses identify website visitors through their email addresses.
In a recent appearance on the ProfitLed podcast, Robinson described his life as a dream come true. He spoke about enjoying time with his children, spending less time travelling for work and living in Aspen, a place he had always dreamed of calling home. He also expressed happiness that his wife could pursue her passion as a full-time artist.
His close friend Jesse Ouellette paid tribute to him, describing him as an innovative entrepreneur who challenged conventional business practices and remained ahead of his time. He said Robinson’s death would be deeply felt by software founders who knew him as a friend and colleague.
The crash also claimed the lives of his wife and children, the family’s nanny Anita Maria Apellido Cetina, and their two friends, Rachael Reed and Charmi Fehr. The aircraft’s pilot, Jeff Gregory, 55, and co-pilot Nathalia Gadelha Filgueiras, 20, were also killed.
According to reports, the aircraft was travelling from Austin, Texas, to the Bahamas when it encountered severe weather before crashing near Greenacres. A distress call to air traffic control captured co-pilot Nathalia Gadelha Filgueiras reporting a rapid descent and warning that the aircraft was about to hit the ground. Pilot Jeff Gregory could reportedly be heard reciting the Lord’s Prayer moments before communication ended.
Investigators said preliminary findings suggested that the aircraft may have started breaking apart before impact. The crash created a massive crater near the entrance of a mobile home park and triggered a fireball that devastated the surrounding area.
Around 600 residents near the crash site were displaced. Authorities reported one injury on the ground, involving a man who sustained leg wounds while driving near the scene.
As investigators continue examining the circumstances surrounding the disaster, tributes are emerging for the victims. For those who knew Adam Robinson, his death represents not only the loss of a successful entrepreneur but also a husband and father whose greatest happiness, by his own account, was spending time with his family.
