The smog situation in Lahore, Pakistan’s second-largest city, remains dangerously high. Once known as the “City of Gardens,” Lahore has now become the most polluted city globally. In response, the government has issued an emergency alert.
According to the global environmental website Air Quality Index (AQI), Lahore ranks first among the world’s most polluted cities today, with pollution levels recorded at 433 particulate meters. Health experts and the Punjab government have urged Lahore residents to avoid unnecessary travel and to wear masks when stepping outside.
Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department reports no rain expected in the coming days, raising concerns about worsening air quality.
Experts predict that the smog situation is likely to persist through December.
