Lahore (Media Bites)-Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has formed a high-level inquiry committee to investigate the case of an alleged assault on a female student at a private college in Gulberg.
The committee, established on the Chief Minister’s orders, will conduct a detailed investigation and submit a report within 48 hours.
According to the official notification, the six-member committee will be led by Punjab’s Chief Secretary. Other members include the Secretary of the Interior, the Advocate General of Punjab, the Secretary of Higher Education, the Secretary of Special Education, and the Secretary of Specialized Healthcare & Medical Health.
Officials stated that the committee has the authority to add additional members if required. It will collect evidence related to the alleged assault, including recording statements from students, teachers, and the college administration.
The investigation will also examine the immediate response of the college management and evaluate the police’s handling of the situation from every angle.
It is noteworthy that the incident came to light recently, alleging that a security guard assaulted a female student at the private college in Gulberg. Following the news, students boycotted classes and launched protests across the city.
