Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Fazl (JUI-F) leader Hafiz Hamdullah sustained injuries in a blast in Mastung, Balochistan. His condition is currently stable.
The nature of the explosion is under investigation by local authorities.
The blast occurred near a vehicle, injuring not only Hafiz Hamdullah but also several others who were in the vicinity. Promptly, law enforcement personnel arrived at the scene, securing the area. Abdul Razzaq Sasoli, the Deputy Commissioner of Mastung, reported that three injured individuals, including the JUI-F leader, were swiftly transported to a hospital in Quetta for medical attention.
Initial medical aid was administered to Hafiz Hamdullah in Mastung before his transfer to the provincial capital for further treatment. Fortunately, his condition is no longer critical, as confirmed by a JUI-F spokesperson, Aslam Ghauri. Additionally, Ghauri stated that two of Hamdullah’s party colleagues and his security personnel had also sustained injuries but were in stable condition.
The incident transpired while Hafiz Hamdullah was en route from Quetta to Kalat. The exact nature of the blast remains unclear at this time.
A health department spokesperson reported that a total of 11 individuals injured in the blast were taken to Shaheed Nawab Ghous Bakhsh Raisani Memorial Hospital in Mastung. Sadly, one of them is in critical condition.
The Senior Superintendent Police (SSP) of Mustang disclosed that 11 people, including Hafiz Hamdullah, were injured in the explosion. The investigation into the exact circumstances of the incident is ongoing.
Numerous political figures and leaders have expressed their condemnation of the blast and extended their best wishes for the recovery of the injured. Balochistan caretaker Home Minister Capt (retd) Muhammad Zubair Jamali called for a comprehensive report on the incident, emphasizing the need to bring those responsible to justice. Asif Ali Zardari, co-chairman of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), echoed these sentiments, stressing the importance of holding terrorists and their supporters accountable.
Senate Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani also strongly denounced the explosion, offering prayers for the swift recovery of Hafiz Hamdullah and others affected. He urged the authorities to apprehend those involved in the Mastung blast. Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori characterized the blast as a plot to disrupt law and order in Pakistan.
