Jamal Shah reveals only reason behind divorce with Faryal Gohar

My Laid-Back Nature Caused the end of their marriage, says famed actor and former caretaker federal minister Jamal Shah. In a recent television talk, he opened up about his first marriage with Faryal Gohar, highlighting the sole reason their union ended, despite their shared ideologies and creative collaborations.

Jamal Shah explained that Faryal was a very practical and organized person. In contrast, he described himself as laid-back, lazy, and not very practical—sometimes to a fault. For instance, he said he wouldn’t worry if a lightbulb at home fused, while Faryal couldn’t accept such neglect.

They had good mental harmony and even worked on many projects together. Yet it was this difference in personality—practical versus impractical—that eventually broke their marriage.

Despite the divorce after roughly nine years, neither blamed the other publicly. Jamal Shah expressed well-wishes for Faryal, acknowledging her as a very good person.

He has since remarried—now happily married to Amna Shah, with whom he has three children
