ISLAMABAD: Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian is scheduled to arrive in Pakistan today (June 23) on an official visit at the invitation of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, marking another significant step in strengthening ties between the neighboring countries.
According to Pakistan’s Foreign Office, President Pezeshkian will be accompanied by a high-level delegation and is expected to hold a series of key meetings with Pakistan’s top leadership. During his visit, he will meet President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Senate Chairman Yousaf Raza Gilani, National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, and Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar.
The discussions will focus on bilateral relations, regional developments, and matters of mutual interest. Both sides are expected to conduct a comprehensive review of cooperation across various sectors, with special emphasis on trade, energy, border security, and people-to-people exchanges.
The two countries will also exchange views on regional connectivity and major international issues. Officials are expected to assess diplomatic progress made since recent understandings reached between Islamabad and Tehran and explore new avenues for collaboration.
The Foreign Office stated that the leadership of both countries will discuss joint efforts to promote peace, stability, and sustainable development in the region. The visit is being viewed as a reflection of the long-standing brotherly ties between Pakistan and Iran and is expected to open new opportunities for cooperation in multiple fields.
This will be President Pezeshkian’s second visit to Pakistan since assuming office as President of Iran.
