Imran Khan’s lawyer, Intizar Hussain Panjutha, has been safely recovered in Attock following a police encounter.
DPO Attock, Dr. Ghiyas Gul, confirmed Panjotha’s recovery, explaining that police intercepted a suspicious vehicle, but the suspects attempted to flee. Police set up roadblocks and eventually halted the vehicle within the jurisdiction of Hassan Abdal police station. Upon stopping, the suspects opened fire on the police team.
The police returned fire, prompting the suspects to abandon the vehicle and flee. When police checked the vehicle, a man inside identified himself as Intizar Hussain Panjotha. His legs had been tied up by the kidnappers.
Dr. Ghiyas stated that Panjotha was taken to the police station, where his statement was recorded. A search operation has been launched to apprehend the suspects on the run.
In his statement to the police, Panjotha recounted details of his abduction, stating, “I was taken from Islamabad on October 8. I was severely beaten, and the kidnappers were demanding a ransom of two crore rupees from my family.”
Panjotha further mentioned that the kidnappers spoke in Pashto, making it difficult for him to understand their conversation. They transported him for several hours, and he was unaware of his location during the journey.
It is worth noting that Intizar Panjutha, the founding lawyer of PTI, had been missing since October 8. A case for his recovery was also under hearing at the Islamabad High Court. On November 1, the Attorney General had assured the court that Imran Khan’s focal person, Intizar Panjotha, would be safely recovered within 24 hours.
