Google has introduced Immersive Explorations, a new feature in its Gemini artificial intelligence platform designed to make learning more engaging through interactive visual explanations of complex subjects.
The feature allows users to explore topics layer by layer, moving from broad concepts to detailed explanations. By clicking on different elements of a visual presentation, learners can uncover additional information and better understand how things work.
According to the announcement published on October 28, 2026, Immersive Explorations covers a wide range of subjects, including science, history and technology. Users can trace ancient Silk Road trade routes, examine the internal structure of a jet engine and explore the physics behind lightning.
The feature aims to make complicated subjects easier to understand by combining visual exploration with detailed explanations. Rather than relying solely on traditional text-based learning materials, users can interact with different parts of a topic to discover information at their own pace.
Google also plans to integrate Immersive Explorations directly into Gemini conversations, allowing users to access interactive lessons while chatting with the AI assistant. Audio narration is another planned addition that could guide learners through different layers of an explanation.
How to Access Immersive Explorations
Users can access the feature through the Gemini Student Hub by selecting the “Try immersive explorations” option. Google also provides a dedicated library where users can explore available interactive learning experiences.
The feature is available on both web and mobile platforms. Supported languages include English, Indonesian, Hindi, Brazilian Portuguese, French and Simplified Chinese. For other languages, the experience is currently available in English, with additional language support planned.
Google has made Immersive Explorations available to customers using Google Workspace, Workspace Individual subscriptions and personal Google accounts. The company says no additional administrator settings are required for organizations that already have Gemini enabled.
With this development, Google is expanding the educational applications of artificial intelligence by offering a more interactive approach to understanding complex concepts. The feature could provide students and curious learners with another way to explore academic subjects beyond conventional textbooks and static diagrams.
