With the approach of winter, SNGPL is preparing to implement gas load shedding, which is expected to impact both industries and households. In the initial phase, SNGPL has released the gas load shedding schedule for Islamabad.
SNGPL has issued a gas suspension plan affecting several sectors in Islamabad, including F5, F6, F7, F8, G5, G6, G7, and G8.
As per an official from SNGPL, consumers in these areas will experience a gas outage lasting 12 hours on October 5th, from 8 am to 8 pm. This disruption in gas supply is essential for the maintenance and improvement of gas pipelines in Sector F-8.
In a press statement, residents in the mentioned sectors were advised to arrange for alternative energy sources during this period. SNGPL also cautioned against the use of gas-powered appliances during the maintenance work.
Meanwhile, the interim government is anticipated to raise gas prices in response to demands from the International Monetary Fund (IMF), which has requested a 45-50 percent increase in gas prices.
Escalating fuel costs have become a significant concern for the government, leading to public protests in various parts of the country.
