A man has been arrested for allegedly producing and selling obscene videos of his own children in Islamabad.
Speaking at a press conference in Islamabad, Additional Director of the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA), Muhammad Shoaib Khan, revealed that a suspect involved in a child pornography gang was allegedly selling videos of his own children, aged between five and six years. He said Pakistan had never witnessed such a horrifying case in its history.
According to the NCCIA official, the suspect belonged to Skardu, while the gang targeted children aged between six or seven and 15 years. The obscene videos of children were allegedly sold through Telegram.
The NCCIA said investigations into the network also uncovered cases involving the production of videos depicting sexual abuse of children, as well as violence and sexual abuse against animals.
The investigation continued for one month with the cooperation of international forums. Further inquiries are underway in Multan, Islamabad and southern Punjab.
Additional Director NCCIA Muhammad Shoaib Khan said authorities would raise awareness among parents about monitoring the content their children watch on mobile phones. He added that action would also be taken against parents who fail to report crimes involving their children despite being aware of them.
According to NCCIA officials, the cybercrime complaint helpline 1799 is also operational for reporting cybercrime-related complaints.
