The Family Court of the District and Sessions Court Islamabad has issued a decree of khula in favour of Humaira Tayyaba, wife of former Senator Mushtaq Ahmed.
Family Court Judge Amberin Iqbal issued the decree after hearing the case.
According to the court, the woman was unwilling to continue her married life with her husband, while efforts to reconcile the couple also failed. During the proceedings, the court was informed that attempts had been made to resolve the differences between the two parties. However, Humaira Tayyaba remained unwilling to continue living with her husband.
The court stated that in her sworn affidavit, the woman expressed her hatred towards her husband and refused to live with him.
After reconciliation efforts proved unsuccessful, the family court granted the decree of khula in her favour and dissolved the marriage.
The court further observed that neither party had any claim against the other regarding Haq Mehr (dower).
The remaining claims concerning child maintenance, expenses of unmarried daughters and other requests were dismissed after they were withdrawn.
The family court also directed that a certified copy of the khula decree be sent to the husband and the relevant Union Council.
