I always had my reservations about Fakhar Zaman’s technique but there is no denying the fact that he is one of the most destructive and fearsome batsmen in white ball cricket; someone who could single-handedly change the complexion of a game.
He also is the kind of human being who is honest, candid and unapologetic; the traits that we have seen in Younis Khan in the recent past. It is those traits that don’t sit well with people at the helm of affairs; the ones with lowest of self esteem, infinite insecurities and inflated egos. These are the people, who in the first place don’t deserve to be running any institution let alone PCB; the likes of Usman Wahla and Mohsin Naqvi.
The omission of Fakhar Zaman from the squad and the central contract only proves that PCB is in the wrong hands. When you are threatened and don’t have the capacity to deal with honesty and brutal but true assessment, that is how you respond.
There is another interesting litmus test arising out of this situation. How would Babar Azam reciprocate the unconditional support shown by Fakhar Zaman at his removal from the team. Well, we all know the answer to that; don’t we?
