In a surprising turn of events, former PTI leader and Senator Faisal Vawda has asserted that former Prime Minister Imran Khan was aware of the murder of well-known journalist Arshad Sharif beforehand.
Vawda supported his claim by sharing an audio clip that soon went viral.
During a segment on the television show Capital Talk on Geo News, the audio clip provided by Vawda was played. In the short recording, Imran Khan can be heard talking about the preparations for the PTI’s long march, saying, “We have made preparations for the long march, don’t confuse people. I will announce the long march on Sunday or on October 30.”
Faisal Vawda claims that this conversation occurred at Imran Khan’s home in Bani Gala and implies that Khan’s remarks suggest he was aware that a major event was imminent. He also points out that Khan’s reference to Sunday is particularly major, as Arshad Sharif was murdered on Sunday, October 23, 2022.
In the audio, Imran Khan is heard advising his associates to avoid hasty reactions and to thoughtfully plan their actions for the rally and the long march. The former PTI leader interprets this as an indication that Khan was organizing a major protest and may have known about the disaster that was about to unfold.
The Senator also named other important individuals, alleging that Imran Khan was aware of the involvement of Faiz Hameed and Murad Saeed in the situation. He mentioned that Khan later recognized Murad Saeed as a leader within PTI.
Besides, Vawda recalled a press conference he conducted on the night of Sharif’s death, where he stated that Imran Khan would be accountable for Murad Saeed’s protection. He also extended this duty to Ali Amin Gandapur, following Gandapur’s remarks at a recent rally in Islamabad, where he purportedly threatened to help Khan escape from jail.
