Pakistan witnessed a significant rise in animal sacrifices during Eid-ul-Adha this year, with a total of 7.47 million animals sacrificed nationwide, according to a report released by the Tanners Association.
The association said that 7,470,000 animals were sacrificed this year, compared to 6,977,565 animals during Eid-ul-Adha last year, reflecting a notable increase.
The breakdown shows that 2.75 million cows and bulls, 4.2 million goats, 500,000 sheep, and 25,000 camels were sacrificed across the country.
According to the report, the price of a cow or bull hide remained around Rs2,200, while a goat hide was valued at Rs600. Sheep hides were priced at Rs100 each, and camel hides fetched approximately Rs2,000.
The Tanners Association estimated the total value of hides collected this year at Rs8.67 billion, highlighting the economic significance of the annual religious occasion for Pakistan’s leather industry.
