In a recent meeting of the National Assembly’s Standing Committee on Overseas Pakistanis, the Director General of FIA, Riffat Mukhtar Raja, revealed shocking details about a fake football club sending players abroad. The briefing highlighted that a football team was sent to Japan under false pretenses, including a disabled (lame) player, raising serious concerns about human smuggling networks operating under the guise of sports programs.
Investigations by FIA showed that this fake club had previously sent individuals abroad in 2022 under the name of a football team. The committee also learned that notorious agent Waqas Ali had been arrested in September for sending 17 people to Japan using fake documents. Each person was charged 4 to 4.5 million PKR, and the fake registration certificate of the Pakistan Football Federation along with a fake NOC from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs were used to execute this scheme. The meeting also included a detailed briefing on the overall situation of Pakistanis going abroad and those being deported for illegal activities.
DG FIA Riffat Mukhtar Raja informed the committee that a total of 56,000 Pakistanis have been deported from Saudi Arabia for begging, highlighting the importance of stricter monitoring and awareness.
