Lahore (Media Bites Web Desk):The world famous Islamic scholar Dr. Zakir Naik suddenly left the stage during an event in Islamabad on Wednesday.
Pakistan’s social media was abuzz with rumors claiming that Dr. Zakir Naik refused to present shields to the orphan girls of a shelter home, allegedly stating that they were “non mahram”.
However, the truth behind this viral news turned out to be quite different. Pakistani journalist Aamir Hashim Khakwani wrote on Facebook that the reality of the incident was not as it was portrayed. What actually happened was that Dr. Zakir Naik was invited to Pakistan Sweet Home, where he answered questions from the audience. During the session, it was time for him to leave as he was scheduled to attend another event.
At that point, the organizers called the girls to the stage to receive shields. Dr. Zakir Naik apologized and left, stating that he had to attend the other event.
Aamir Hashim further has said Dr Zakir departure was subsequently presented in different ways on social media. Many people suggested that he should not have left in such a manner, while others found the idea of “non mahram” girls a peculiar justification.
He stated that some praised him for his actions, while critics used the incident as a basis to criticize Dr. Zakir Naik, arguing that he should not have left in that manner.
Journalist and writer Aamir Hashim Khakwani urged social media users to research before forming opinions or writing about any incident. He stated that there is no harm in waiting a bit to verify the authenticity of such news.
