In the town of Landi Kotal in the province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, a group of religious scholars has implemented a prohibition on music and dance parties during wedding ceremonies. According to reports, the Ulema from the Zakha Khel area conducted a meeting where they collectively decided to take action against these activities.
The scholars have imposed a ban specifically on dance parties involving transgender individuals and the inclusion of music at wedding events. In a joint statement issued by the Ulema, they declared that they would refuse to officiate nikkah (Islamic marriage) ceremonies and lead funeral prayers for families who violate the ban. They further stated that no relations would be maintained with these families. Additionally, the group has also banned the practice of aerial firing at wedding events.
Local political leaders and representatives from the local government were reported to have attended the meeting alongside the religious scholars.
