India has a history of winning World Cup openers since 2015. Initially, India faced adversity, losing three wickets for just two runs.
However, Rahul and Kohli displayed resilience and skill under pressure, gradually taking control of the match. They built a crucial partnership, with Kohli reaching his half-century, and Rahul also achieving his fifty.
India’s star-studded bowling lineup, featuring Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, R Ashwin, Kuldeep Yadav, and Ravindra Jadeja, put immense pressure on Australia.
RAVINDRA JADEJA LEADS BOWLING SHOW
India’s star-studded bowling line-up never even allowed Australia to dream of any kind of competitive total after Pat Cummins won the toss and decided to bat in their World Cup opener. Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj were outstanding with the new ball.
They troubled the Australians with pace and tight lines; while Siraj was wicketless after the early exchanges, Bumrah was rewarded for his persistence early in the spell with the wicket of Mitchell Marsh who was sharply caught by Virat Kohli in the slip cordon for a duck.
They restricted Australia to a total of 199 runs, with Ravindra Jadeja delivering a memorable spell. This victory showcased India’s strength and determination in the World Cup.
