The Lahore family court has formally passed a decree of divorce against prominent TV anchorperson Ayesha Jahanzeb.
Stumbled during the course of the hearing, she expressed her desire to end her marriage because she didn’t want to live with her husband, Haris, any more. To this effect, the court declared her plea for divorce.
The court also ruled that the children’s custody would continue to be a shared issue between both parents. Ayesha Jahanzeb disclosed that though some elders of Haris’s family had discussed her case concerning domestic abuse, an agreement with her ex-husband was never possible for which she resorted to divorce.
Earlier, the TV show host, who was a victim of domestic violence, chose not to take legal action against her husband Haris Ali.
She refuted rumors of getting back together, explaining that she made the decision based on her desire to keep her children out of legal matters. The news anchor is planning to divorce and wants to gain custody of her kids.
Ayesha Jahanzeb dismissed reports of a reconciliation agreement, causing worry among her fans. She informed the judge in the district court that “Whatever occurred was torture and should not be experienced by any woman.”
She also observed that witnesses were present when the agreement was finalized. The individual, who was held by the Sarwar Road police station based on charges under sections 354 and 506B, was subsequently granted bail by the court.
On July 10, the incident was reported which led to Haris being arrested after Ayesha reported allegations of abuse. She reported that her spouse had inflicted physical harm on her on at least three occasions over the past year, causing significant injuries. This led her to seek legal action.
