Indian singer Arijit Singh, known for his many music contributions to Bollywood movies, has now become the most followed artist on Spotify, surpassing pop star Taylor Swift.
The artist gained over 118.8 million followers on the streaming platform this week, while Swift followed closely behind with approximately 118.78 million.
Last year at this moment, Singh surpassed Swift in Spotify followers for a short time, but Swift quickly regained her position at the top of the list, as reported by The Indian Express.
Over time, the Indian singer has garnered significant attention. Singh had previously achieved a milestone by becoming the first Indian vocalist to reach 100 million Spotify streams.
Singh and Swift rank higher than Ed Sheeran, Ariana Grande, and BTS in terms of prominence. A.R. Rahman, currently positioned at No. 20, is the sole other Indian artist in the top 20.
