Pakistani singer Aima Baig has announced to fight for the rights of women of Pakistan and to run the ‘Me Too’ movement after performing Umrah.
For the past few years, the singer has been a victim of various controversies, including her engagement breakup with actor Shahbaz Shigri and her verbal altercation with singer and music composer Sahir Ali Baga over the song ‘Funkari’.
In a recent post on her Instagram handle, she wrote that she will perform Imran and won’t be returning to Pakistan any time soon.
In her Instagram stories, she expressed her emotions, writing, “May Allah bless my Umrah and keep me safe. Goodbye Pakistan for some time. I will miss my country very much because I am leaving it, and it is not a matter of weeks or months.”
Following her spiritual journey, the singer announced her renewed commitment to women’s empowerment. She stated that the peace and strength gained from her Umrah experience have emboldened her to support the women of Pakistan.
She further said that she has long been aware of individuals who have harmed girls’ lives but had remained silent until now.
“I am ashamed of my silence and always will be. Not only myself but also a few other women around me are ashamed of not doing anything about it,” the singer shared.
She announced her intention to initiate the ‘Me Too’ movement in Pakistan, emphasizing that women are the reason men exist and should be respected.
The Pakistani singer urged women to raise their voices against abuse, highlighting the mental and physical suffering many endure. She mentioned having names of certain individuals but stressed the importance of proceeding step by step and supporting working women throughout this journey.
