An initial investigation into the death of an 18-year-old woman in Lahore has reportedly uncovered allegations of prolonged sexual abuse and physical violence inside her family home.
LAHORE: An 18-year-old woman was allegedly subjected to sexual abuse and severe physical violence by her father and two brothers before her death in Lahore, according to an initial police investigation and preliminary postmortem findings reported by local media.
The victim, identified as Maham, allegedly died following an assault at her family home. Police said the investigation is ongoing and that additional charges could be added after a detailed postmortem and forensic examination are completed.
According to the initial investigation cited in the report, Maham had allegedly been subjected to abuse by family members over an extended period. The preliminary postmortem examination reportedly found evidence consistent with sexual abuse.
Allegations of prolonged abuse
Police officials reportedly said Maham’s mother died only a few months after her birth. Following her mother’s death, she was raised for a period by her paternal aunt.
According to the investigation cited by local media, the alleged abuse began while Maham was living with her aunt and continued after she returned to her father’s home.
Investigators allege that her father subsequently abused her and that two of her brothers also became involved in the alleged abuse.
The investigation has also included allegations that Maham was subjected to repeated physical torture, including burns caused by a heated metal rod.
Authorities have not yet released a final forensic assessment, and the allegations remain subject to the ongoing investigation and judicial process.
